Rutgers University: Tillett Hall Active Learning Classroom

Rutgers University: Tillett Hall Active Learning Classroom

The Tillett Hall Active Learning Classroom is Rutgers’ first general-purpose active-learning classroom. The space is designed to facilitate dynamic and engaged learning through clustered seating, student work space, a layout that encourages interaction and an intensive technological infrastructure. The space includes large circular tables designed for nine students. Each group table allows students to plug in tablets, smart phones, or other personal devices and project their content onto a nearby screen. The Instructor’s station can also control the content projected to two projection screens on opposite ends of the classroom. The instructor’s table may be raised or lowered to accommodate each instructor’s preference. The perimeter of the room features wall-to-wall marker boards for more traditional work.
