Trenton development receives two honors

Roebling Lofts, a 138-unit loft community in Trenton, received New Jersey Future’s Smart Growth Award and an award from the state Historic Preservation Office.

The multifamily community, built last year, is part of the initial development phase of the former Roebling factory situated on a 6.8-acre site opposite CURE Insurance Arena. The factory was shut down in the 1970s and stood vacant since the 1990s.

“NJ Future puts a premium on sustainability in considering their awards [and] HPO looks principally at historic merit,” said David Henderson, a principal with project developer HHG Development Associates. “We succeeded in satisfying both of their criteria, because we cared deeply about both aspects as we planned the project.”
