Hunterdon County’s administrative staff was dispersed throughout Flemington. A substantial increase in County population was also projected, as such the demand for government services increased and philosophies towards service delivery changed as well.
Recognizing the need for a comprehensive evaluation of its space needs and the fiscal implications, the Board of Chosen Freeholders retained Clarke Caton Hintz to prepare a Strategic Facility Plan that provided a clear structure of present problems and future needs upon which to base decisions relative to meeting the County’s long range requirements for space. The plan called for the renovation of the Administration Building, Hall of Records and Southard Building. The Historic Courthouse and Jail were to be restored.
