The object of the North 25 redevelopment plan (also CCH) was to implement a mixed-use development program adjacent to Trenton’s Battle Monument. The City obtained ownership of the former Reading Railroad freight terminal. This classic brick and heavy timber structure is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The citizen-based planning process identified a need for a senior citizen center which would provide services to the elderly residents in the surrounding neighborhood. The design concept was to insert a bold set of standing partitions down the center of the terminal space which would define small activity spaces and a large dining room while preserving the historic character.
