The Riverfront State Prison Site Reuse study illustrated how Delaware Avenue can be extended to create a Waterfront Boulevard to connect new development with the existing neighborhood. A continuous walkway would provide public access to riverfront for both new and existing residents.
The study addressed the goals of the project which were to investigate the potential for mixed use development at the NJ Riverfront State Prison site; illustrate an overall strategy for the redevelopment of the North Camden Neighborhood; define a set of planning principles which might be used to guide the redevelopment of the waterfront; and avoid the need to relocate any occupied residential structures.
