Mercer County Waterfront Park

Located along the Delaware River, Mercer County Waterfront Park is a 6,300 seat, AA minor league baseball stadium The owner’s prime objectives were to produce a state-of-the-art professional baseball facility and utilize the riverfront location for year-round public recreation. The design team began the process with a detailed site analysis to determine sun angles, vehicular and pedestrian access, river views and activity points. Historic research revealed that this part of Trenton’s riverfront had previously been used by the American Bridge Steel Works to manufacture steel for bridge construction. The design concept was to adapt the brick and exposed steel vocabulary typical of Trenton’s 19th century industrial structures to create a contemporary design statement.

The main stadium entry is marked by a curved canopy fronting on a generous public plaza. Fans enter the seating via two main staircases located on either side of the ticket office and arrive on the concourse level overlooking the playing field and the river. Concession stands, restrooms, the souvenir shop and press box are all located on the concourse level with a clear view of the seats and the field. On the upper level of the stadium are 16 private skyboxes and a restaurant. The team locker rooms, administrative offices, and support spaces are located on ground level under the concourse.
