There is currently a parking availability shortfall at the North White Plains Train Station. With projections of anticipated ridership growth over the next few years, additional parking will be required to support customers who reside in all communities throughout Northern Westchester County. In order to provide for the current ridership needs and future projected growth, Metro-North has retained a design/build team (led by Clarke Caton Hintz Architects) to construct a five story, 186,000 sq. ft., Parking Garage that will provide 500 parking spaces.
The new pre-cast concrete and brick structure will front on Haarlem Avenue and Bond Street. In order to accommodate the new structure, an existing outdated smaller garage will be demolished, as will an existing Utility Building, which will be replaced in kind, that supplies mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services to two nearby office buildings owned by Metro-North. There is also 1,000 sq. ft. of retail space planned for the ground floor of the Parking Garage.
