Katharine Schumacher

Katharine’s professional background includes working in landscape architectural design and project management. She has been deeply engaged in addressing large scale stormwater management issues through green infrastructure and utilizing geovisualations to communicate environmental concerns. She specializes in geomatics and managing online interfaces to collect data from the public and stakeholders that enhance analytical and research projects. Her research at Rutgers centered on designing active transportation commuting corridors that enhance municipal wide green infrastructure and integrated community engagement with the natural landscape to promote ecological stewardship.

Katharine started her career with a Bachelor of Science in Geo-Environmental Studies from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, completed in 2005. She has completed projects with organizations such as the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), The United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the Nature Conservancy and The D&R Greenway and continues to strive for ecological nature based solutions to enhance landscape design through collaborative partnerships.
