The Lawrence Township Police and Municipal Courts Facility accommodates a building program of four distinct parts: Public Lobby, Courts, Police and Detention. The public enters the building into a grand gathering space/lobby. This serves as an orientation device for the public. Off of the lobby are the courtroom with associated offices, the police and various community rooms. “Back of house” spaces include detention and select police administration which minimizes public interaction and offers the greatest amount of security.
Careful consideration was given to the traditional forms and materials of the building. While the design of the facility is of its time, it relates to the existing municipal building (also by CCH) located on the same campus directly across the parking lot.
