Samuel Lewis Southard Law Office

To this day, the Honorable Samuel Lewis Southard remains one of Flemington’s favorite sons. Southard held many public offices including Governor of New Jersey and a United States Senator. His law office was constructed in 1811. After the Honorable Samuel L. Southard vacated the structure in 1817, the building became occupied by Peter D. Vroom. Vroom also served as Governor of New Jersey, immediately preceding Southard in office.

The building was originally built as a simple, clapboarded office. The building was later transformed into the Greek Revival structure it is today. Our project involved the complete interior and exterior renovation of the structure as well as the modernization of the buildings systems.
