The existing Recreation Center building for William Paterson University will be renovated and expanded so that one centrally located facility will now house Health Sciences (classrooms and labs for the Nursing program and the Kinesiology and movement sciences program), Athletics (the newly revitalized gymnasium and new natatorium), recreational spaces and the Wellness Center (for the provision of student physical health and mental health services).
The new Recreation & Health Sciences Center will be comprised of an 55,000 sf two-story new construction “L” shaped addition and new “front door” to the complex. The Center will include: a 17,000 sf Natatorium and Locker Room, 8,250 sf Fitness Center, new program space for a 13,000 sf Wellness Center, 24,000 sf of space for new recreation gym, new classrooms and lab space for Nursing, Kinesiology and Movement Sciences programs. There will also be renovations to 3,300 sf of the existing facility to create a Training Room, Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Instructional space.
